Blood Pressure Checks:

Blood pressure checks are performed the first Sunday of every month. This is usually done with two nurses taking blood pressures and providing information about the meaning of your blood pressure reading. Tracking your blood pressure is very important; if it is high, you may need medication to control it.

Please see our education page for more information about this topic.

Flu (influenza) Clinic:

This clinic is provided for all ages. It is scheduled yearly for a date prior to the beginning of the flu season. It takes about 2 weeks for your body's immune system to build up its defenses against the flu. You cannot get the flu from a flu shot; the shot contains only dead viral cells. Also, the flu shot does not provide immunity from common gastrointestinal viruses, often incorrectly termed 'stomach flu'.

There are many different viruses that cause the flu, and these typically change from year to year. That's why you need a new flu shot every year. If you are not sure whether you need a flu shot, please talk to the Parish Nurse for more information.

Home Visits:

Home visits are made at the family’s or the pastor’s request. These visits allow us to make special time for the patient and/or the family.

Hospital Visits:

The pastors and parish nurse make visits to the hospital. In time of sickness or distress we can help guide the patient and family through the health care system.

Care Coordination:

We can provide appropriate referrals to various care-giving agencies based on the individual's or group's needs and serve as a liaison between these care-givers.

Counseling:

We are here to listen to your concerns and discuss health-related issues. We provide help in understanding instructions you may have been given by your care provider(s), as well as explaining medical terminology.
